People Electric · AC Contactor
Product overview
Original People Electric RDC8 contactors provide remote switching of AC circuits. Select against the stated utilization category and actual main-circuit voltage. An appropriately selected overload relay and short-circuit protective device are required where the application calls for protection.
Technical selection summary
| Manufacturer / series | Original People Electric RDC8 |
|---|---|
| Rated current reference | 150A, 250A, 350A, 450A, 550A, 700A |
| Utilization category | AC-1; current ratings at ambient ≤40°C |
| Rated operating / insulation voltage | Ue 1140V / Ui 1140V |
| Rated impulse withstand voltage | 12kV |
| Main circuit | Three-phase AC switching; do not substitute these AC-1 ratings for AC-3 motor ratings |
| Control circuit | AC control-voltage range 110–660V is stated in the selection guide. This is a series range, not a claim that one coil accepts every voltage; specify the exact supply and confirm the coil nameplate. |
| Short-circuit information | Rated breaking capacity is stated as 1.5×I (AC-1); this is not a circuit-breaker kA rating |
| Ambient / altitude | Normal -25 to +60°C; derating required at extended -40 to +70°C; no capacity reduction below 3,000m |
| Standards stated | GB/T 14048.4; IEC 60947-4-1 |
| Accessories | Top/side auxiliary blocks and air-delay heads are separate selections; specify requirements |
| Mounting | Pollution level 3; installation category III; within ±5° of mounting reference under the stated control-voltage condition |
Current choices are AC-1 ratings, not AC-3 motor ratings. This page covers AC control. The 110–660V button denotes the catalogue series range, not a universal coil rating; state the exact supply voltage in the enquiry. DC control is not selectable because DC consumption is not specified for the two smallest frames. Auxiliary blocks, delay heads and protection devices are separate. Photographs illustrate the original series and can show different frames or auxiliary arrangements.
Typical applications
- Remote switching in industrial control and distribution circuits within the documented duty ratings.
- AC-1 non-inductive or slightly inductive loads and resistance-heating applications with correctly coordinated protection.
